about T
Yosemite
is an easy day trip & our office staff will
be happy to provide you with “insider tips” that you won’t find in
any guide books. We’ve also included some on-line tips: Yosemite
Valley waterfalls & the secret Yosemite:
Hetch Hetchy.
If you’re interested in Gold Country history, the historic Gold Rush
communities of Sonora, Columbia & Jamestown are all within a half
hour’s drive:
Sonora has it if you need it...including a 24 hour
supermarket & a 10 screen theatre. Sonora also has a great historic
downtown perfect for walking with lots of unique shops, restaurants,
courthouse & museum with adjacent old time jail.
Black Oak Casino
is 5 Minutes from our motel, with
plenty of entertainment, gambling, world class food, bowling, live
entertainment and so much more....
Columbia is so unique the entire downtown is a state
historic park (admission free). The kids can pan for gold or ride a
stagecoach. See homemade taffy being made, the blacksmith at work or
enjoy strolling musicians. Columbia is cool!
Jamestown is also home to a state park: Railtown 1890.
Ride an authentic steam locomotive (excursions year round on the
weekends & everyday during the summer). Jamestown also has antique
shops, specialty stores & restaurants.
Dodge Ridge
offers downhill skiing, snow boarding &
cross country & it’s close. You can be shredding it up within the
hour. Summertime is fun time with swimming, fishing & fun at a
myriad of local lakes & rivers too numerous to mention here.
Summertime also means open access to the “back country” including a
trip over Sonora Pass to check out the authentic ghost town of
Bodie & the most unique Mono Lake.
The aforementioned are some of our favorite things to see & do
locally. Tuolumne County is also home to world class rock climbing &
white water rafting. Neighboring Calaveras County is home to several
excellent wineries, a half dozen more historic Gold Rush towns & Big
Trees State Park...the home of the giant redwoods.
